Labor Day Weekend updates

Summer has flown by and we’re now looking forward to a busy & productive Fall season for our community.  First up is our SoBe West Commission Candidate Forum being held 9/5 5:30-7PM at Mirador 1200 West Avenue.  We are also happy to announce Bondi Sushi will be our meetings sponsor and will be releasing their “Secret Resident Menu”.  Come out for a productive forum & opportunity to enjoy Bondi’s tasty new menu.

SoBe West will be having elections this fall.  Ideally but not absolute, we’re looking for board candidates that have some expertise with IT, Communication, Engineering, Architecture, Construction, and Administrative skills.  Please consider stepping up and being involved in our community.   More details to follow from our Nomination Committee on how and when you can apply starting in early September.

Recently it was announced David Martin will now be partnering with Michael Stern on the 1250 West Avenue redevelopment.  After talking with David this week we welcome his involvement. With his local city contacts and expertise he’ll be able to expedite the demolition of the Bikini Hostel site and help move the redevelopment forward.  More updates to follow.

Finally, just a reminder Miami Spice is going on now through the end of September along with $1/hour parking for our residents guests.  Please consider going out & supporting our local businesses during this extremely slow period.  From the North End of our community and “Paya’s Spice & Tasting Menu” to the South of our community with Deweys Happy Hour menu, we are fortunate to enjoy many great restaurant specials.

Enjoy your Holiday Weekend,

SoBe West Board

Labor Day: Celebrating Our Community’s Hard Work

Labor Day, observed on the first Monday of September, is a time to honor the dedication and achievements of American workers. It began in the late 1800s as a way to recognize the efforts of labor unions and everyday citizens who helped build the foundation of our country’s workforce.

Today, Labor Day is more than just a historical milestone—it’s a chance to celebrate the spirit of hard work that lives right here in our neighborhood. Whether you're a teacher, nurse, tradesperson, small business owner, or retiree, this holiday reminds us of the value each person brings to our community.

As summer winds down, many families mark the occasion with backyard barbecues, local parades, and a well-earned day of rest. However you choose to celebrate, we hope you take a moment to appreciate the contributions of your neighbors.

Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend!
