WEST AVENUE PHASE II UPDATES:
Sobe West was successful working with the City Manager, city staff, Mayor, and city commissioners to secure funding for Heather Leslie MB Public Outreach and her team for the duration of the West Ave Phase II project. Heather coordinates and communicates among all the all parties at city hall & Ric Man construction to address resident questions and issues on the West Ave Phase II project. In addition, Heather will continue to be securing harmonization agreements with impacted properties. Thank you, Eric Carpenter, David Gomez, Mayor, and City Commissioners for your support for this complicated West Ave Phase II renovation project.
Ongoing Now: Work to set up new Stormwater line from Hotel Gaythering to the seawall. This includes connections to drains at 1400 and 1450 Lincoln Rd to new line on the Gaythering side. This will take up to 3 weeks.
August 10th: Begin installation of storm water line on Lincoln Ct from Gaythering to pedestrian bridge.
Aug 17th: Commence work raising the seawall 2 ½ to 3 feet in elevation going up between 2 ½ feet to 3 feet. 1 Month time frame. Ground in parklet will also be elevated so the difference between the ground and seawall is not 2 or 3 feet.
Current plans are to start harmonization/new street elevation from the completed seawall at the end of Lincoln Rd moving eastward. This could be delayed if issues with the unknown connections from private properties are not resolved by the time the seawall is done.
Segments 2 & 3 ( Lincoln Rd, West Ave North of 16th, Bay Rd north of Lincoln Rd and Lincoln Ct north of Lincoln Rd). The project staff estimated this phase to last 10 to 12 months with an estimated completion date of mid-June 2026. The most recent estimated completion for Segments 2 & 3 is now December 2026.
SoBe West thanks Pura Vida, MB Chamber of Commerce, and MBPD for last week’s Cafecito with the Cops.
