Bikini Hostel Update
This weekend we had a incident with a small fire at the Bikini Hostel 1247 West Avenue and saw FB posting with homeless pics and trash on the site. We reached out to David Martin developer of Bay Garden Manor 1250 West Ave & Bikini Hostel site, Mayor’s Chief of Staff Blake Govan, and our local resource Officer Rodriquez.
Here is what they have done from our outreach today:
Blake & David have been working for expedited reviews for the fencing & demo permit. TECO the Gas company will be on site tomorrow to cut & cap the gas line. Once TECO signs off all final permits will be submitted by end of month. The goal then is to install a perimeter fence. A month later once Development Agreement is signed off demo plans can be completed. More updates to come at our next 3/9 SoBe West Community Meeting
Officer Rodriquez & team went to inspect the site, ordered a decoy police car to be placed onsite of Bikini Hostel by tomorrow. Meanwhile Blake requested a watch order via MBPD for the next 48 hours on the property.
Sanitation Team went onsite today and removed all belongs & cleaned the site.
Thank you Officer Rodriguez, Blake, David, & Sanitation Team for your fast response.
