Summer update in SoBe West
Update on recent SoBeWest meetings with Commissioners:
Sobe West worked with Commissioner Fernandez & Commissioner Magazine to secure funding for West Ave Phase 3 Design Phase and for alley upgrades for Alton Court from 8th st. to Lincoln Rd. We appreciate all their efforts & our Finance Committee to make this happen for our neighborhood’s benefit.
City Baywalk Condo Building Boards, & City Staff:
Special thanks to Commissioner Dominguez, CIP David Gomez, & Bryan Niedelson (Baywalk lead), and Condo Boards at 1450 Lincoln Bay Condo, 1228 Bayview Terrace, 1200 Mirador, 800 South Bay Club. Commissioner Dominguez helped coordinate with CIP, impacted Baywalk Condo Board members, and SoBe West site inspections with the buildings listed above regarding Baywalk construction & addressing concerns to assist with the project’s momentum.
Special thanks to MBPD Captain Lazano & our new Neighborhood Resource Officer Liz Rodriguez. Liz was with the MB Parks department for 16 years and now with MBPD for 6 years. We welcome her to our neighborhood and discussed MBPD police getting out of their car at the Lincoln Rd street end.
With the recent reports of homeless throwing rocks at residents we asked for increased MBPD surveillance at our waterfront street ends such as Lincoln Rd (an ongoing challenge) & increased MBPD & Park Ranger surveillance with homeless issues at Canopy Park. After our meeting, our Captain installed new surveillance cameras in Canopy park.

Community Action:
This is a photo taken on 7/11 5:30PM of two young residents observed speeding on their E-Motorbikes through Canopy Park harassing residents. If you recognize or see them again please report to the police.
