ANNOUNCEMENTS: Next SoBe West Community Meeting/Commission Meeting Updates
Dear Residents and Small Businesses Owners,
This Monday we honor and remember the men and women of the U.S. military who died while serving their country. Originally known as “Decoration Day” after the American Civil War, the holiday began as a time to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags. Over time, it expanded to honor all American military personnel who died in service.
Wishing you all a Happy Memorial Day!
SoBe West Board

COMMISSION MEETINGS UPDATE:
SoBe West requested from the city No Fishing signage along the bayfront on 10th Street, 14th Street, and Lincoln Road. There have been many issues in this area with fish bait and hooks left behind putting pets at risk of ingesting. Special thanks to Commissioner Fernandez and his aide Sydney Alonso for working with legal to get these areas approved and new No Fishing signage approved.
SoBe West requested along with Waverly Condo Board member Eric Marshall to remove railings along the bayfront at 10th and 14th Streets. Thanks to Commissioner Suarez for sponsoring and the entire Commission and Mayor supporting their removal. We are still pursuing railings for the baywalk behind Mirador properties so the baywalk can be opened.
SoBe West has been working with developer of the Epicure property David Berg to allow Ric Man construction to use the site as a staging location for equipment and construction material related to the ongoing West Avenue Phase 2 project. This would free up temporarily blocked street parking spots as well as secure additional resident parking next to Trader Joes. The item was approved and now goes to city’s Land Use Committee for discussion then back to the Commission for final approval. Thank you Mayor and Commissioners for your support here. West Ave Phase 2 residents and businesses are going through a lot of daily disruption and need as much support as possible with lighting, drainage issues, and managing the dust. Thank you Commissioner Fernandez, Ariel Guitian CIP (Capital Improvement Projects), Ric Man construction, and MB Public Information Liaison Heather Leslie for continuing to meet with residents and addressing their concerns. Special thanks to SoBe West board members Stephan Ginez, Nancy Duke, and Valerie Navarrete for attending the biweekly walks and continuing to bring resident issues to the city for potential resolution.
ALERT: Please help our West Ave Phase 3 project team contact the following addresses:
· 757 West Avenue,
· 899 West Avenue,
· 1035 West Avenue, and
· 1120 9th Street.
If you know any of these neighbors, could you please have them contact MB Public Information Liaison Heather Leslie at heather@hmlpublicoutreach.com. Heather Leslie and Auriel Guitian CIP need to meet to discuss and sign Harmonization agreements for their respective buildings. Finalizing these four harmonization agreements is important to help the West Ave Phase 3 renovation project move forward. We appreciate all the other buildings who have already met and signed their Harmonization agreements.
